Description: American baseball Hall of Famer Gordon Stanley “Mickey” Cochrane (1903-1962) signed this small piece of paper in 1935 when he was catcher for the Detroit Tigers (1934-1937). He signed “Worlds Champions” because his team won the 1935 World Series, which he had also won in 1929 and 1930 as a member of the Philadelphia Athletics (1925-1933). Cochrane’s career batting average of .320 stood as the record to beat for MLB catchers until 2009. In full he has written: “Best Wishes/Mickey Cochrane/Worlds Champions/Detroit Tigers 1935”.
The original signed paper has been adhered to a stiffer piece of paper and measures: 2 1/8” x 3 1/4”. Item #A00818.
Condition: Some wrinkling from glue and light soil in blank margins of paper, mounting remnants on verso, otherwise in good condition.
