Description: This 1928 Christmas card features an illustration of a snow-covered Capitol and is signed by Nicholas Longworth (1869-1931) and Alice [Roosevelt] Longworth (1884-1980). Nicholas Longworth served as Speaker of the House of Representatives (1925-1931), having previously served as a Representative from Ohio. Alice Longworth was the eldest daughter of President Theodore Roosevelt and his first wife, Alice Hathaway Lee. During her father’s presidency, she was known as a fashion icon and a bit of a rule-breaker.
