Description

Description: Grace Coolidge (1879-1957) was First Lady of the United States from 1923-1929, while her husband, Calvin Coolidge was the President. Outside of her accomplishments as First Lady, she is best known for her work at the Clarke School for the Deaf and the American Red Cross.

This lovely, sepia toned photographic portrait of Coolidge is signed in blue ink on the lower right. It is tipped to the verso of an invitation for a "Breakfast to Mrs. Calvin Coolidge given by The Congressional Club [at] THE WILLARD February Fourth 1927." The photograph has excellent resolution and contrast where it is focused on Coolidge's face; the rest is in much softer focus. Photo measures 5 1/4" x 3 3/8", invitation measures 5 3/4" x 4". Item #A00280

Condition: Photograph is in excellent condition. Invitation has light soil overall, otherwise very good.
