Description: Thornton Wilder (1897-1975) inscribed and signed this excised title page from his first novel, The Cabala, published in 1926 by Albert & Charles Boni of New York. He writes: “For Herbert E Morris with the best wishes of Thornton Wilder.”
Wilder was an American playwright and novelist who was awarded the Pulitzer Prize three times (The Bridge of San Luis Rey, Our Town, The Skin of Our Teeth). He also won the National Book Award for The Eighth Day.
