Description: On December 27, 1926, Frances Folsom Cleveland Preston (1864-1947) penned this genial letter to Mrs. Basil Anglin profusely thanking her for “[her] beautiful card, [her] dear good wishes and the little clothes for my small Frances. You are so good to think of us & I send my best wishes for the Happy Season.”
Frances Folsom married President Cleveland in 1886 at age 21, becoming the youngest First Lady in history. She quickly won the hearts of the American people with her charm and beauty. In 1913, five years after Grover Cleveland’s death, Frances Cleveland married Thomas J. Preston, Jr., an archaeology professor at her alma mater, Wells College.
Written on one page of a “Westland Princeton, New Jersey” imprinted stationery that measures 6 ½” x 10 ¼” when unfolded. Includes original free-franked transmittal envelope. Item #A00867.
