Description: Arthur Atwater Kent (1873-1949), the inventor and radio manufacturer, signed this typed letter to Mrs. Karl S. Green, thanking her for her letter about “our broadcasting.” He says, “I appreciate tremendously hearing from my friends.”
Kent began the Kent Electric Manufacturing company in the back of his father’s machine shop, and sold motors, generators, fans, and automobile ignition systems. He began selling radio components in 1921 and his company became the largest producer of radios in the United States by 1925. This letter probably is in reference to the “Atwater Kent Radio Hour”, a top-rated radio concert music program on NBC and CBS from 1925 to 1934.
Typed on an 8 ½” x 5 3/8” sheet of A. Atwater Kent’s imprinted stationery.
