|Description: We offer a yard long birdseye photograph featuring Truck Co # 29 and the 69th Infantry in McAllen, Texas circa 1916. It is 5 ¾’ x 36” in a painted half round frame with the outside dimensions 7” x 37” . Inscribed across the negative with various identifications: “Photo by Murff and Robertson, Supply Train NY – NC = US, Truck Co #29 McAllen Texas, 69th Inf.” The photo captures a seemingly infinite line of tents, trucks and horses in striking two point perspective. The McAllen skyline peaks up along the horizon. Item #PR00112.
The 69th Infantry was a famed regiment from New York City. The troop guarded the border and prevented the smuggling of arms across Rio Grande to Pancho Villa. These men would go on to fight in World War I, their time at McAllen was training.
Condition: There are a few spots of soil in the sky, the paper is slightly rippled, overall good untouched condition.
