Description: We offer an elegant chalice by the 18th c. pewterer Peter Young (1749-1813).
The tapered bowl (4 1/8" diameter) rests on a knopped stem and stepped base. Overall it stands 8 1/2" high.
Impressed on the inside bottom of the cup is a faint crown over an "x".
The underside of the base is stamped with Young's mark... "P. Y" within a circle which has a dotted perimeter (only 1/2 of "P" is visible).
Young produced fine pewter objects in both New York City and Albany, NY from 1775 to 1796.
Condition: Slight dent on edge of base, scattered spots and scratches commensurate with normal use and storage. Generally in very good condition.
