|Description: We offer a rare flag made for the 1886 bicentennial celebration of the City of Albany, New York. It is 24” x 34 ½” printed on cotton muslin. It features the City of Albany seal in the center and a variant on the flag of New England below, with a globe in the canton instead of the typical tree. The right side shows the First Union Flag of England and the 38 star canton for the United States. To the left are three large stripes of blue, white, red, and orange, possibly representing the Netherlands and France. The flag is encapsulated in shrink wrap and backed with a thick half-inch foamcore board, no adhesives have been used. Item #AM00172.
Condition: The fabric is wrinkled and toned, there is some prominent staining along the left margin and scattered dampstains, and some small frays in the margins, overall good, aged condition.
