|Description: We offer a small wall map of North America and the United States, by Ensign, Bridgman and Fanning, published in 1857 at 156 William Street, Corner of Ann, New York. The map is approximately 37”x 35 ¼” printed on ivory paper on its original linen backing. There are some hand colored details, inset view of the West Indies, seven small engravings of steam/sailing vessels scattered through the various waters, and a wonderfully decorative border. American Indian nations are noted throughout, as are railroad routes. Item #PR00199.
Condition: As is standard with these early wall maps, the paper is somewhat yellowed and has numerous short "cracks" from being rolled and unrolled. There is a one inch area of paper loss in the blank upper left margin, not affecting the image. Generally very good condition. The wooden rollers have been removed and it is shrunk wrapped on 1/2" foamcore (not glued down).
